TLD GasGas SSR Completes Their First Triplecrown Series

This past weekend marked rounds 3&4 of the Triple Crown Series SX Tour and the entirety of the National Series here in Canada. As a newly formed team tackling the nationals, there were many learning experiences along the way; However we pushed all season long to put our absolute best foot forward on the track and in the pits. This season could never be possible without our amazing sponsors and the support shown at the tent each weekend.

Round 3

250 Pro

Heat #1 would see the MX2 TLD GasGas SSR rider of Sam Gaynor get off to a rough start where he sat in 12th position as the green flag waved. Gaynor would quickly start picking off riders where he would gain a position each lap for the opening 5 laps of the moto. By lap 7 Gaynor had made his way into 7th position with Marco Cannella following close behind. Gaynor and Canella would battle very closely for the next few laps until Cannella would make the pass stick on lap 10. Gaynor, still charging and looking to make a pass, would cross the checkers in 7th, closely behind Cannella.

The TLD GasGas SSR Pilot of Sam Gaynor would get off to a decent start in heat #2. Gaynor would start off the heat in 7th position but put on an early charge to get himself into 5th position by lap 5. From there on Gaynor would ride very smart and aggressive throughout the entire moto to a 5th place finish.

Gaynor would go 7-5 for 6th overall on the day at Round 3.

450 Pro

Heat #1 would see the #26 of Ryan Derry get off to a great 5th place start. Derry would put in some strong laps early on in the moto. By lap 6, Derry would fall back to 7th position. Continuing to push and put in consistent laps, Derry would cross the checkers in 7th position for heat #1.

MX1 TLD GasGas SSR rider Ryan Derry would line up for heat #2 with more in the tank, looking to make a statement. Derry would get off to an amazing 3rd place start where he rounded the first few laps at the front of the pack. By lap 7, Derry would fall back to 6th position. Derry would put on a charge to put himself into 5th position at the checkers. Congrats Ryan on yet another career best moto and overall finish.

Derry would go 7-5 for 5th overall on the day at Round 3.

Round #4

Coming into the final round of the Triple Crown Series TLD GasGas SSR rider Sam Gaynor was ready to charge hard in search of ending off the year with some solid results. Gaynor would put in an impressive qualifying session where he would qualify 5th position with lap times extremely close to the top 3.

Heat #1 would see Gaynor get off to a 9th position start. Gaynor would put his head down and charge to make up some positions. By lap 7 Gaynor had made his way into 7th position with more in the tank. Sam would put in very consistent and fast laps where he would gain another position. Sitting in 6th, Gaynor set his eyes on #19 Quinn Amyotte. Gaynor would charge hard for the #19 and end up crossing the checkers in 6th position directly behind Amyotte.

Heat #2 would see the #28 of Sam Gaynor in 9th position at the green flag. Gaynor would put in some hard laps until lap 6. Unfortunately, on lap 6, Gaynor would have a bad crash in a rhythm section before the finish line. Gaynor would hit the ground hard and unfortunately sustain a broken hand and contusion on his lung. Gaynor would get taken off the track and examined at the hospital.

TLD GasGas SSR’s Sam Gaynor has let us know that no surgery will be needed for the injuries and he is taking the time to heal and rehab properly. We wish Sam the best of luck as he gets his body back to 100%

450 Pro

Heat #1 would see #26 of Ryan Derry started off the moto in 8th position. After making an early pass, Derry would put himself into 7th position. Riding very consistently, Derry would ride out the entire moto in 7th position where he would cross the checkers.

Heat #2 saw Derry get off to a great start in 4th where he would battle with the top guys for the first few laps. A charge from the back from Casey Keast pushed Derry back a spot into 5th position. Derry would make a slight mistake in the sand section which ended up in the #26 pilot losing another spot. Derry would continue to charge the rest of the moto with pressure coming from behind. Derry would continue to click off solid laps to a 6th place finish in heat #2.

Derry would go 7-6 for 6th overall on the day at Round #4
